Re: RSS Structural Screws
Cologne, 16.1.1998
After conducting extensive tests involving your RSS Structural Screw, we have come to the following conclusions:
The screw is easy to install if installed with the proper (high torque power) machinery.
The torque resistance during installation, especially toward the end, is subject to experience, but generally tolerable.
Because of the RSS’ sharp point, the thread of the screw grabs instantly.
The screw head can easily be countersunk and can therefore be used in pre drill metal applications.
The appearance of the RSS, with the exception of the screw head, is that of the particleboard
screw. Hence, it is an easy addition to existing fastener options.
The RSS easily adapts to a bending angle of 10 degrees caused by the limitations of the wood.
While removing the bent screw from the wood it straightens to its original form.
Installation in the hardwoods is possible without pre drilling. However, due to the
diameter of the screw this may cause the wood to split.
Overall performance: The RSS Structural Screw appears to be exceptionally well suited for high weight
load, structural applications. Despite its large mass, the RSS is easily installed and applied.
